Beyond the Hype: Architecting Cloud Resilience in the Age of AI

While cloud has become a commodity, AI is rewriting the architectural rulebook. This session presents a blueprint for scaling security, addressing the dual challenge: defending AI workloads while leveraging AI to modernize operations. It dissects the threat landscape, mapping automated attacks and supply chain risks.

Crucially underlining the focus is on strategy: operationalizing AI to automate threat modeling, streamline risk questionnaires or accelerate security testing. This talk bridges the gap between risk and speed, transforming legacy processes into a self-reinforcing ecosystem that leverages governance to outpace adversaries.

Lernziele

  • Understanding the threat landscape: identifying cloud risks, AI-automated attacks and supply chain risks in order to structure defences.
  • Operationalisation of AI Defences: Learn how to use AI to automate threat modelling, security testing and risk processing.
  • Scale governance: Develop a strategy that aligns security controls with business velocity, balancing risk and innovation.

Dominik Sowinski is a cybersecurity architect with over eight years of experience and currently serves as a Cybersecurity Lead Architect and Senior Key Expert for Cybersecurity at Siemens. His work centers on Cloud Security, Identity & Access Management, and Application Security, with a strong focus on designing scalable, secure-by-design architectures across large cloud application development programs.

In his role, he guides security specialists, supports senior management in making informed risk-based decisions, shapes architectural direction, drives governance initiatives, and develops reusable security capabilities that raise efficiency and strengthen the overall security posture of the organization. Before joining Siemens, Dominik worked at IBM, advancing from IAM Consultant to Senior Security Architect and leading cross-functional teams through complex client engagements. During this time, he delivered large-scale initiatives including MFA implementations for DAX 30 enterprises and cloud application security architectures for Fortune 500 companies.

Most recently, Dominik has expanded his expertise into AI Security, integrating emerging AI-driven threats, LLM security considerations, and responsible AI practices into modern cloud architectures. His commitment to continuous learning and innovation drives his work at the intersection of architecture, AI, and secure engineering. He also brings a personal interest in offensive security, deepened through CTF challenges, to inform threat modeling and strengthen secure-by-design principles in the systems he builds.
